The site was the former location of South Works Steel Mill. It fostered a flourishing community, but since it got shut down in 1989, the surrounding residential zone has seen a proverbial fall from grace.

DESIGN DIRECTIONS -

  • Rooting the design in the site and the people.
  • Recognizing and highlighting the emotional and symbolic importance of the site and context.
  • Providing a robust and profitable development idea for a valuable site.
  • Providing an inclusive development proposal, considering all stakeholders.
  • Alleviating persistent socio-economic problems.
